Where to look for a kot in Namur?
Namur is a student city on a human scale: the university and most schools are in the centre, between the station and the meeting point of the Sambre and the Meuse. A quick tour.
Before choosing
Your classes. The University of Namur and most colleges are in the centre, a few minutes on foot from the station. A few schools are a little out of the way: the HEPN, the IPFS, IMEP and Henallux's paramedical section in Salzinnes, Henallux's teacher training at Champion.
Your commute. In the centre, almost everything is done on foot. The TEC buses link the neighbourhoods and the neighbouring villages to the station, which is also the gateway for trains to Brussels, Liège, Charleroi and Luxembourg. The bike is handy along the Sambre and the Meuse, much less so on the heights of the Citadel.
Your nights out. The old pedestrian centre gathers the bars and student nights out. Housing in the Corbeille or just around it spares you depending on buses in the evening.

The centre and its surroundings
This is where most students live: the university, the schools, the station, the shops and the nights out are within walking distance.
The Corbeille, the city centre
The heart of Namur, squeezed between the Sambre and the railway: the shopping streets, the old centre and its squares, the university and the station. The most practical choice for most students, with housing that is often old and smaller.
Usual rent: €335 to 450 a month, without charges

Bomel and Heuvy
Just north of the station, on the other side of the tracks. A residential, working-class neighbourhood, with more gentle rents than in the Corbeille, a few minutes on foot from the centre through the station.
Usual rent: €340 to 400 a month, without charges

Salzinnes
Across the Sambre, west of the centre. Namur's second student neighbourhood after the Corbeille: rue Henri Blès is home to the HEPN, the IPFS and the IMEP, kots are the clear majority, and daily life happens around the squares and local shops. Rents are gentler than in the Corbeille, and the centre is about twenty minutes on foot, or a few minutes by bus.
Usual rent: €330 to 410 a month, without charges

The Citadel and La Plante
At the foot and on the slopes of the Citadel, along the Meuse. A green, quiet setting, a few minutes from the centre, but hilly as soon as you climb.
Usual rent: €400 to 535 a month, without charges

East of the station, between the centre and the Meuse. Residential, close to the centre on foot, with more gentle rents than in the Corbeille: a good balance between price and distance.
A little further
Jambes, Saint-Servais and the villages around Namur offer more space and lower rents, at the cost of a bus or bike ride. Check the direct bus line to your school before visiting.
Jambes
Across the Meuse, facing the Citadel. A former municipality, residential and commercial, flat along the river, linked to the centre on foot or by bike by the Jambes bridge and the Enjambée footbridge, and by its two stations, Jambes and Jambes-Est.
Usual rent: €360 to 500 a month, without charges

Saint-Servais, Belgrade, Bouge
The residential neighbourhoods around the centre: Saint-Servais, to the north-west in the Houyoux valley, Belgrade further west, and Bouge to the north-east. Houses with gardens, more affordable rents, and buses to the station.
Sources / St Servais / Trois Piliers
Usual rent: €350 to 410 a month, without charges

Further out, in a more rural setting. Worth it if your classes are there, like Henallux Champion, or Malonne for physical education, or if you want calm and a low rent, as long as you accept taking the bus or the car every day.
